Obituary for Donald Lee McDowell

Donald Lee McDowell, age 87, of Marionville, Missouri, passed away at 11:50 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at the Aurora Nursing Center. He was born September 1, 1931, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Albert and Goldie (Putman) McDowell.

Donald was a United States Army Veteran and was a Custodian with Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, Missouri.

On November 3, 1979, he married Nancy Underwood in Springfield, Missouri.

Donald is survived by his wife of 39 years, Nancy; three daughters, Geraldine King and her husband, Mike, of West Monroe, Louisiana, Beverly Small of Springfield and Michelle Mortensen and her husband, Daniel, of Marionville; two sons, Lee McDowell of Republic, Missouri and Mike Nelson and his wife, Erin, of Nixa, Missouri; 14 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Goldie, sister, Darlene McDowell and brother, Buddy McDowell.

A graveside service, under the direction of the Williams Funeral Home in Marionville, Missouri, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
